"And when these days are done, I will look back and say...I was at my best when I was with these people."
At Kappa Alpha Theta, we have many opportunities to celebrate our time together. From socials, to sisterhood events, to weekends with our mom’s and dad’s, there is never a dull moment at the KAT house.
One of the best parts about being in Theta is the ability to be yourself and know that you have sisters that will love you for it. In addition to having a formal every semester, we get the chance to be goofy and play dress up for the night at our themed socials. This year, we have several new socials and date parties including Mardis Gras, Draft-A-Date, and Wedding Party.
Since our family and friends are so important to us, it’s fun to introduce our parents to the rest of our sisters. In the fall, we host a banquet for Parent’s Weekend. It’s a great chance for your parents to get to know your sisters and learn what Theta is all about.
In the spring, we celebrate Mom’s Weekend with shopping at a silent auction, a delicious dinner, and a scholarship banquet. On this fun night, we keep the mom’s updated on our events, and help them learn more about Theta. The next morning, we have a brunch at Theta, followed by house tours and various activities. Not only do the girls become best friends, but the mom’s too!
Also in the spring, we throw on our Husker gear and head to the spring game for Dad’s Day. This is an exciting day full of food, fun, and football. It’s the perfect way for our dad’s to bond with each other and our sisters.
In addition to weekends with our families, we also have at least one sisterhood event per month. Some activities in the past have been hayrack rides, haunted houses, making valentines and mayday baskets, and movie nights. No matter if we’re staying in or going out, Thetas always have a fun time. With all of the time we spend together, our bond strengthens and we form lasting memories. The saying is true, Theta isn’t 4 years, it’s for life.
